O_o Wow. Dude. Cool it.

So. I play this silly little game, right? Wellll, they have forums. So there was something bothering me about the news tonight and I posted about it, to see what everyone else thought.

You see, there was this news report on the Swine Flu (zhomg pandemic *eyeroll*). They focused on one of the many small cities that are the largest problem areas. The people that -lived- there pointed out that they only had water for nine hours out of the day. They had no sanitation. The doctors were refusing to come there to help them.

Now, fast forward, about sixty seconds. They're now saying they have no idea whatsoever why it's so much worse in Mexico than in America. O_o Um. Access to water to keep ourselves hydrated, for one. Keeping ourselves clean is a nice one, too. Oh, and let's not forget medical attention doesn't stop just because "zhomg Swine Flu Pandemic!"

It's like they can't put 2 and 2 together.

I mean, I realize that Mexico has free medical care. But that also means that clinics are often overbooked and understaffed to begin with.

But along comes popular player X and they decide to chew my ass out for "flinging ignorance about latin america from all sides" O_o

Dude. I only spoke how I felt about what the reporters were ACTUALLY SHOWING ON THEIR SHOW.

BACK. THE. FUCK. OFF.

Or are we not allowed to state facts about what we saw on TV, and our opinion of them anymore?

On a better note, I found a room for AnthroCon. :3

Just point out how many confirmed cases there have been, and how many have actually recovered from the new flu, and then point out the population of the entire planet earth, or even just something like say ... the United States (306,300,000+ people) and see if they can still go off about the "high numbers of infection and massive spreading and worldwide death."

Or just sit back and mock them.

Well, I mean if you look at the statistics... more people are dying from the NORMAL flu, worldwide, than this thing is even infecting.

Let's look at numbers: From the CDC itself, there have been 367 infections worldwide. There have been 2 confirmed deaths. TWO DEATHS.

The last bus Crash had more deaths than this, and the last two big aircraft accidents had more injured than have been infected.

More people have died from overdosing on drinking water than have died from the "swine/bird flu."

Now ... On the flip side there is a big worry that those who are infected but recover may develop symptoms later that are life-threatening. They just don't really know.

But I think your chances of getting run over by a drunk driver are far worse than dying from this flu. Now, that's not to say you might not catch it and be miserable. If you don't usually wash your hands and are around the public, and I mean the public that routinely doesn't wash or care about personal health, like druggies, then you have a good chance of catching it, IF someone has it and IF you get it and IF it spreads in you.

People fail to realize just how many viruses and germs we inhale every day that never catch hold or our bodies simply get rid of without us even knowing.

Sorry. I kinda ranted ... c.c

Actually, H1N1 is more viralent than common influenza, so more people will get and and it spreads more easily. With proper rest, hydration, and medicine, there's not that high of a mortality rate. But folks refuse to eat right, drink WATER, and rest. So, our own bad habits (including hygene) will cause it to spread around.

Just remember, 820 people in the USA died of common influenza last week, and that was the lowest amount this year. What the doctors are saying to do is what you ought to be doing every day anyway.

Exactly. Not to mention, all the hype about this, and they're now saying the virus doesn't even have the genes to mass-kill anyway... and yet we're still freaking out and setting up emergency medical stations? I mean.. it's already been proven that just dealing with it like a normal flu works... so... why don't we just do that?
